30 Day Challenge #2

Where would you like to be in 10 years:

So much can happen in an entire decade. It's crazy when I think about the past 10 years of my life, ages 13 to 23. That is such a long time! Hm, where to start? I hope to travel a lot in the future, I have many vacations planned. I hope to have bought a house by then, being 33, I should have decided on where to settle down. I want to finally complete college and get my Bachelor's and Master's in Theatre from Brenau University. That has been my dream since 17 and I will do it. Maybe Chris and I will have started a family by then? I don't even want to try to have children until I'm at least 28. There are just far too many things I want to do child-free, and those of you who know me, know that I have been surrounded by kids all my life. 6 younger brothers and sisters, the oldest grandchild on both sides ....I need a break! I want me time. I want the chance to be selfish for a bit. I hope to meet many new friends and take lots of interesting classes on just whatever I feel like. I hope to have learned a lot by 33. I hope to see lots of performances by amazing musicians and just really experience life for everything it is.

30 Day Challenge #1

Describe your current relationship status:

I am taken forever! I'll start from the beginning. Eighteen and fresh out of high school I decided to take my first year off and work before starting college. I got my first official job at Blockbuster in August after frolicking June and July away. My Dad was very strict during my high school years and wanted me to solely concentrate on school work instead of an after school job. I was very nervous at my first job, but got comfortable quite quickly. I met a lot of good friends and a few crazy people, but hey, at least they were entertaining. Every now and then one of my friends would stop by on my lunch break to visit. Katie was the lucky one on that early January day in 2006. The Blockbuster where I worked was at the end of a Publix Supermarket shopping center, so we headed up to grab some eats. I was on a quest for Pizza Rolls, but for some reason I walked through the produce section. There he was, in his adorable Publix uniform, his cute Paul McCartney hair, stocking bananas. After Katie and I managed to giggle away from his cuteness we got our items and proceeded to the check out line and there was Dawn. Dawn was the lovliest (and loudest AND nosiest) of cashiers so of course she asked me about boys. I knew her from my parents' religious grocery shopping there as well as from when I had a job bagging groceries for a few months. I told her about the inevitable creepiness that is (age appropriate) Blockbuster customers and revealed that I hadn't any luck in that area. Before we left I did manage to blurt out that I thought the produce guy was hot. Questions bombarded me from all around. "What's he look like?" "Who?" Yada yada yada .... I described him and you know what? Turns out his sister was the one placing my Pizza Rolls in a bag. Can you say embarrassed? Yeah. Katie blurted that I would be at work ...at Blockbuster until 11 p.m. and that they should send him down to "check me out." I didn't think that was going to happen.

A lunch break and a few customers later, you wouldn't believe who hit the door. Mr. Produce Guy, Hot Guy, Banana Boy ...(there were many nicknames ...) Christopher, the cute guy from Publix. Of course I hid. Then as he was walking around the store I pretended to scan DVD's while my co-worker Jamie (love you girl!) filled me in. No words were spoken that night.

A few days later I got a friend request on Myspace. (ahhh myspace, where would we have gotten without you) from ....BANANA BOY!!! Of course I totally accepted. Messages, comments, instant messaging, finally lead to phone calls which lead to our first date! We arranged it on a Tuesday for that Friday, then I didn't hear from him. I seriously thought I had gotten stood up! Then 9.00 p.m., an hour before we were to meet for a movie he called. My heart jumped out of my chest. Seriously, I had to track it down and put it back in while in giddy girl mode. Not an easy task, and it went from there. A few dates after, on January 28th 2006 we made in official. Boyfriend and girlfriend. We said our I love you's in May and started college together that August. By that next May we were engaged. He asked me on 5/6/07, isn't that cute? We moved in together summer of 2007 and were finally married on June 6th 2009. The craziest part about it, we literally lived 2 miles away from each other for over 10 years. We went to the same high school, had the same friends, even worked at the SAME grocery store and we had never met until that night. I went to the supermarket for some Pizza Rolls and came out with the love of my life. I have a few pictures to post, but sadly I don't have any from the beginning. Someone broke into his car and stole his phone and laptop which had all of the pictures, so the ones you'll see are from when we moved in together to now.

This is one of the first pictures of us together in our first apartment. It was during phase1 of my fauxhawk days and was taken by my friend Dani. We lived in a ghetto complex next to the Mall of Georgia and suffered never ending traffic.

30 Day Challenge!

I stumbled across a list of 30 blogging ideas from Lauren at woodgrainwhale and I thought that they were pretty neat ideas! I've been trying to get this blog going for a while and I always fall away from it. I think it's partially because I'm definitely out of my comfort zone. To some, Blogsopt may seem like a breeze. To me, not so much. I still have a lot to learn before I finally get this blog to where I want it to be, but I'm going to stick to it. I'm going to start the first of the challenges tomorrow. I'm kind of giddy excited! :]

Silly sissy sleepover

This weekend was filled with lots of family time. Saturday evening I picked up my little sisters for a sissy sleep over. The night was filled with make-up, hair curling, Disney princess movies and baking. As soon as they hit the door, they went straight for my closet and each picked out a pair of heels. How cute is that? They're such little priss pots. I had some pizza rolls ready for them so while they ate and played Cooking Mama on our Wii, I got all the baking things set up. While it was baking we did the hair and make-up. As if the shoes didn't make them prissy enough ...

Once the cake was out of the oven and cooling, we decided to make some Play-Doh popcorn. The quickly lead to nail painting and trying on all of my dresses. Then it was finally time to decorate the cake.

As you can see, they had to add every sprinkle ever on this cake.

The night ended with lots of cuddles, popcorn (actual, not Play-Doh) and a Rainbow Brite movie! I love these little sisters of mine! <3

Horror Flick Friday

I've decided to share my thoughts on some "scary" movies and seeing as how I have 6 months to kill, I've been watching plenty. Some will be suspenseful, some horribly gory and some that are so lame, they're actually pretty funny. The flick this week is:

The initial attraction to watch this came from the fact that this was one of Brittany Murphy's last films. I did like her as an actress and I thought she was quite underrated most of the time. She could make you laugh as well as cry ...and in this film she gives you goosebumps.

The story is about a writer named Alice (Murphy) who has been having difficulty finishing her screenplay. She goes to stay at an older house owned by a friend and discovers what happened to the former owners.

The plot was a little predictable, but it did have some moments where it actually made me look around my  own apartment just to make sure there wasn't a pyscho killer hiding in the corner. Murphy is really good at holding the suspense, but she does have a problem with mumbling some of her lines which somewhat breaks the illusion. All in all it was an okay movie. I'd recommend it to those of you who freak at the sight of gore and prefer an edge-of-the-seat flick rather than a slasher.

Modcloth Love

Well, I am bored beyond all reason and to keep from going insane, I have filled my time with Netflix Watch Instantly, new books to read and finding cute things on the internet. I rarely go onto Modcloth, but today I did and managed to find some super cute dresses:

Super cute, huh? I've really been into blues, greens and oranges lately. I also managed to come across some majorly adorable shoes as well:

And how adorable are those pencil flats?! I have the perfect outfit planned for those. Unfortunately the are currently sold out ...and about $75. I really just like to browse through different online stores and etsy shops for inspiration. Even if I can't afford anything at the time, I get inspired to mix and match items from my current wardrobe and that makes them seem new and refreshing.

Do you currently have any favourite shops? Any particular items? I'd love to see.

I heart music!

"Now there's no holding back, I'm making to attack
My blood is singing with your voice, I want to pour it out
The saints can't help me now, the ropes have been unbound
I hunt for you with bloodied feet across the hallow'ed ground
"
Howl by Florence + the machine

"No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world"
Blinding by Florence + the machine

These are a few lyrics from my favourite songs. If you haven't heard them, I definitely recommend you do. I've laid in my bed for hours listening to Florence's Lungs album for hours. It's otherworldly. It allows for an amazing escape into glorious day dreams. Not only is she amazingly talented, she is also one of the most beautiful ladies on the planet!

She is entirely her own and that is so refreshing. I'm tired of the same music being repeated from girls who all look alike. Whatever happened to being an individual? It's quite hard to believe that she's only 24.

"Hey! Those aren't bananas ..."

Well this weekend was interesting to say the least. While at work on Friday I got news that an electrical transformer blew and left Peterstown (where I live), Union, Narrows and Pearisburg without power. We still had power at the salon so I finished up my work day only to head home and see my hubby sitting in the dark being tragically bored. It got really cold, really fast and we were hungry so we headed to Princeton for some food. Well, and heat too.

Of course we stayed way too long enjoying all of the precious warmth and spring rolls (yum!). Afterward, we still didn't want to face our freezing apartment so we went to Walmart. I hate Walmart, but they had heat. We walked around killing time, then decided to drive to Christiansburg so I could get a desk calender. That's A LOT of driving! I hate living in this bumhole town that's so far from everything.

Once we got home we used our Lightsaber to locate candles and put them all over the house. The apartment was so cold! It actually ended up being a fun night. We played Harry Potter Uno by candlelight and snuggled. The power finally came back on at about 3 a.m. Saturday morning though and I could not be more appreciative of all those men working in the cold all night so we could have our power back before expected.

Chris definitely dominated at Uno. He won 2 out of 3.

I'm not exactly sure why this picture exists. Chris took it while I was putting a hat on.

Lightsaber!

Aside from it looking rather awesome and it actually just being awesome, we would have had a very difficult time finding our way through the apartment without this thing.

Anyone else have a crazy weekend? Do share! :D

One of the best gifts ever! No one ever knows what to get me as gifts so I'll just say that you can't go wrong with some type of sweet! Seeing as how I am in NO way a winter person, this allows a sort of escape into chocolatey bliss. Yeah, I'm a walking Dove Chocolate commercial.

Hey, I'm Tiffany...

Well if I'm to write about my daily life and share pointless musings with you then I better tell you a little about myself ...

My name is Tiffany and I'm 23. I will forever look 16, but that's partially my fault because I love plastic jewelry and wearing bows in my hair. I currently live in a 500 population town where most inhabitants are over the age of 65. Seriously. So no matter where I go, people look at me like I am the devil and/or I'm going to eat their young. I like to read and I very much enjoying baking. I love lime flavored anything and could not care less about football and in a place like this, that makes me an alien. My favorite colors are orange and purple and I love tulips. I have been in love with Andy Warhol since I very first saw his daisy print when I was about 10. I have two pet hermit crabs, Sharkie and Wonton and although they are the most boring pets ever, I do love them tremendously. I adore all animals, but my favorites have always been bats and pigs. I don't know why. I'm from a big family, I have 3 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters. I have grown up around all my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, first, second, third ....Great Grandmas and Grandpas ...Family all around. I love and crave adventure and am always looking to the future. I dream to one day own a bakery and be the best mother possible to my darling future children. I aspire to be the wife my husband wants and needs and to never lose our "sickeningly adorable" hand holding and stolen kisses. I hate bad table manners and gum smacking and popping. I also hate stained plastic wear and dirty bathtubs. I'm sure that there is more to share eventually, but this is a pretty good random assortment of pointless information to help you get to know me a little better.

What rhymes with 2011?

It's a brand new year and a brand new start. I'm so excited for the future and can't wait to see my plans and goals come to life. Those of you who know me can validate my love for lists and goals. I make them daily, weekly, monthly, yearly ... It just feels so good to have a list of cross offs. Here's to a fantastic year for all!

Here are a few of my 2011 goals:

1. Gather all my books and pack my dresses and get my move on back to my home in the dirty south! It has been an unusual experience living in WV for these past almost 3 years, but now I am oh so ready to go. I've learned a lot and am thankful to a lot of people. I've gained an education with a certification (Eeee! I <3 rhymes)

2. Get my septum pierced. This is kind of a lame goal, but I have wanted to do this since I was 15 years old. I've always been afraid to do it ...It'll hurt, I don't have the right nose for it, what would my Dad say? All of these have prevented me since 18. Well, I'm 23 now and I still want the piercing so I'm going for it!

3. GROW OUT MY HAIR! I've been trying this one for ages. I even had it past my shoulders at one point then lopped it off into fauxhawk. I always love my fauxhawk for about 2 weeks then it starts to grow out and look absolutely ridiculous. As of now it's resting on my shoulders. Going strong! No fauxhawk urges! :D

4. Stick to my work out routine! I'm usually so good about it for a month or so then I skip a day ...then maybe another day then I'm only working out 2 days a week and that just won't do. Fortunately, I've always been a healthy eater so that has benefited me a great deal. Just gotta keep workin' on my fitness.

5. FIND THE PERFECT SWIMSUIT!

6. Go hiking more this year. My husband Chris and I have hiked only a few times since moving up to the mountains and I know once we're back in the big 'ol city we'll regret not seeing more trails. I love hiking and have about 3 spots I want to see before the big move. Got my boots by the door waitin' for a warm sunny day! (yeah, right. ew, winter)

7. Take more cooking adventures! Now, I can bake, and not to toot my own horn, but I've become pretty darn good at it (toot toot). I want to try more intricate "real food" recipes. Good thing I've got a decent sized kitchen, a super sweet husband who will lie to me and tell me my food is scrumptious and my Mom's old cookbooks! :) Let the feast begin!

8. Be a better long distance bff. I know that mi amigas have a lot going on in their lives as well as I do, but letters are a must! I love writing them, even if it's just a silly poem about a unicorn or what I have just said to them on the phone. It's better on paper. They know I love and adore each and everyone of them (at least, I hope they do <3) but I need to display it more.
